The Executive Secretary of the PRRI is Piet van der Meer and the Deputy Executive Secretary is Lucia de Souza. The secretariat of PRRI is managed by Zuzana Kulichova and hosted by the Working Group Biotechnology and Society at the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.

Zuzana Kulichova
Zuzana Kulichova is a Slovak national who obtained a master degree in Environmental Science at the Wageningen University and Research Centre in The Netherlands (thesis ‘Regulatory constraints on the market release of GM crops in developing countries). She also holds a master degree in Agricultural Economics from the Slovak Agricultural University. Since September 2007 Zuzana Kulichova has been actively involved in the activities of PRRI, among which the project leader of the EC FP6 project ‘Science4BioReg', which provided funds for basic activities of PRRI from 2006 – 2010. Zuzana Kulichova manages the day to day activities of the PRRI Foundation and the PRRI Secretariat.

Lúcia de Souza
Lúcia de Souza is Brazilian national who obtained her Ph.D in plant biochemistry at the Friedriech Miescher Institut in Switzerland. She gained experience in biotechnology product launch and consumer perception research in Mexico and in Brazil. Lúcia de Souza has extensive experience in teaching and has been actively involved in biosafety in the last 10 years. Since 2005 she is the vice-president of the Brazilian National Biosafety Association(ANBio), which is a group of academic professionals active in capacity building and in communication in the field of Biosafety and its interfaces with society, regulators and other stakeholders. She is directing the Switzerland based Cutting Edge Solutions, which offers consulting in biosafety and biotechnology. Lúcia de Souza has been actively involved in PRRI´s activities since 2006.

Piet van der Meer
Piet van der Meer is a Dutch national who obtained degrees as biologist and a lawyer at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. From 1989 to 1999 he was in charge of biosafety regulation in the Netherlands. In the period 1999 to 2002 he managed a biosafety capacity building project in countries in Central and Eastern Europe. From December 2002 to May 2004 he managed the UNEP-GEF Projects on Implementation of National Biosafety Frameworks. Since August 2004 he is the director of the Belgium based Horizons sprl. In this capacity he provides support to the Public Research and Regulation Initiative. Since 2006, Piet van der Meer is a Guest Professor at the Department Molecular Genetics, at Ghent University, Belgium.
